May is Mental Health Awareness Month
According to the 2024 Presidential Proclamation, less than 50% of adults and 70% of children diagnosed with mental health conditions receive treatment. That is a staggering statistic. We must remove the stigma associated with mental illness. As writers, we are in a position to contribute to the greater good by sharing our stories.
Have you written essays or books about mental illness? If so, please share, and I will update the list!
Several poets and authors contributed to the SCARS: Poems & Short Stories About Mental Health and Healing anthology to benefit NAMI and 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Praise the Lord and Pass the Prozac: A Hopeful, Helpful, Humorous Devotional, written by award-winning author and humorist James N. Watkins and his daughter, licensed therapist Faith A. Watkins, combines biblical and behavioral encouragement and practical tips for dealing with depression, anxiety, stress, and many more issues to provide hope, help, and humor for dealing with mental health issues.
Audiobooks & Podcasts
According to PodNews, audio continues to increase, with online audio listening hitting the highest mark ever! Are your books in audio format? Do you have a podcast or YouTube Channel? If so, please share, and I will add it to the list. If you want to learn more about author audio promo opportunities, here are three podcasts to check out.
