Amazon KDP Price Increase & Category Changes, New Book Releases, Indie Author Events & Opportunities
Indie Author Insider - June 2023
Greetings Indie Author,
Welcome new subscribers: Anne Whemeyer, Audrea Jack, Ferguson, Harold, Mary Louisa Locke, Steve Nicko, Steven Aitchison, and Terr! I hope you get to know some fellow writers here and enjoy discovering indie author events and opportunities.
Special thanks to Substack Publications for recommending the Indie Author Insider. I appreciate your support! Self-Publishing with Dale, The Life Strategies Playbook & Mentoring Program, Art Spot, THE WELLNESS BLOG, Susan's Expressions, Bernie Books, and Letters To My Brother.
Change is indeed the only constant. The Indie Authors Association Newsletter is now the Indie Author Insider to align with my goal of being more personal, focused, and concise.
Speaking of changes, have you heard about the Amazon KDP price increase? You may want to adjust your book prices accordingly.
Until June 19th, you can do a bulk price update on KDP. It’s one click. Quick and easy. I received this pop-up confirmation and message to not make manual changes until the bulk update is complete:
Amazon also made changes to their category selection procedure. You can now select three categories ONLY. They stopped allowing up to ten categories upon request. April Cox of Self-Publishing Made Simple, and Dave Chesson of Kindlepreneur explain the KDP changes in more detail.
IngramSpark also made changes. They eliminated their setup fees!

This is great news for indie authors looking for an Amazon KDP alternative. IngramSpark is also the popular platform to publish on if you want your books available to bookstores and libraries.
I published my one and only children’s book on IngramSpark, but now with the setup fee eliminated, I may publish more of my books there.
What is your preferred publishing platform? Answer in the comments or on Notes. (Notes is a new space on Substack to share links, posts, quotes, photos, and more. It’s a Twitter-style space for writers!)

NEW BOOK RELEASES
Samhain (Wheel of the Witch Book 1) by Teresa Keefer
Natalia is a successful witch and medium who owns a magic shop in the French Quarter. She finds solace in her small home in Algiers Point where she grows magical herbs and crystals. Jamie is a solicitor in an Irish village with a talent for reading people's emotions, while his sister has greater magical powers that have recently gone awry. When an ancestor appears to Jamie, only he can perceive her. Their paths cross when Jamie is sent to New Orleans to find a descendant of the original Coven of Sisters. If the descendants fail to form a new coven, their faerie-given powers will disappear forever!
